Dr. Haddadin has served as Jordan’s Minister of Water and Irrigation. Since 2011 Dr. Haddadin has assumed responsibility for government organizations, chairs the Boards of private companies and is a member of the Board of other companies representing the Government.
He is Author, writer, and water expert and holds a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering degree from Alexandria University, Egypt (1963), a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (1966) and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Washington in Seattle, USA (1969). His professional career has been in engineering design research in which he published three papers (1969-1972), institution building in which his finger prints appear in Jordan on the Royal Scientific Society (1971-1973), the Jordan Valley Commission (1973-1977), the College of Engineering and Technology at the University of Jordan (1973-1975), the Jordan Valley Authority (1977-1987), in social and economic development in which he was the central figure in transforming the Jordan Valley from subsistence agricultural economy of about $250/capita/year in 1973 to a developed region in all walks of life scoring a per capita share that matched that of the country (about $1650) in 1987.
Dr. Haddadin initiated his consulting work focusing on water resources and integrated development in 1988.
He published several papers focusing on water resources in such journals as Water International, Water Policy, International Negotiations, Geographical Journal, Brown Journal of Foreign Affairs, and others; and had several books published for him by Kluwer Academic Publishers, Resources For the Future Press, Ithaca Press, University of Oklahoma Press, and All Print Press (Beirut).
Dr. Haddadin possesses distinguished experience in water resources development and in integrated social and economic development through academic and field work in Jordan and many Arab countries. He conducted several consulting missions for UNDP, the World Bank and FAO in the Middle East and North Africa. His recent engagement has been for the Government of Jordan in Urban Renewal, Mining of Phosphates and processing of raw ore and materials to produce fertilizer.
